“I appreciate your unchanging love for me, the best that I can do here is come here once a year.” – Kim Hyun Joong to the fans during his The End of a Dream tour stop in Manila.

Filipino Henecias once again got their dreams to come true as they witnessed the ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘Playful Kiss’ star perform some of his hits live. But before that, he welcomed the media with a smile on his face after back-to-back TV shows guesting a day before his upcoming concert.

According to Kim Hyun Joong, he was so glad to be back in Manila and this time, it is one of his stops on his world tour. Kim Hyun Joong was touched when he got to the airport as fans flocked waiting for his return to the Philippines and were surprised to know that he is still widely known today.

Around 7:30 PM local time, Kim Hyun Joong graced the night with “Lead Me in Your Way” from his latest album “My Sun”. In fact, he performed all the songs from the said album and that’s 12 songs in total.

One thing I noticed on the LED screen every time Kim Hyun Joong performs a song, especially from the “My Sun” album is that they are all based on the small images from the album art which made his performances even more special and meaningful.

Kim Hyun Joong also performed his hit tracks such as ‘Bark Matic’, ‘I’m a Million’ (where Filipino Henecias rocked on!), ‘LOVE SONG’, ‘Your Story’, “Song For a Dreamer”, ‘You Are a Miracle”, “Oasis”, and “New Way” – songs from his albums such as “A Bell of Blessing”, “New Way”, and his single albums.

The concert will not end without hearing Kim Hyun Joong sing his version of the hit Boys Over Flowers OST “I’m Stupid” which brought us back to the nostalgia of the hit Korean drama and the crowd really cheered out loud as we all picture Yoon Ji-hoo (Kim Hyun Joong’s character) brought to life.

He also sang another OST titled “One More Time” from another hit Korean drama “Playful Kiss’ that he also starred in as Baek Seung Jo.

Just like us, Kim Hyun Joong was also overwhelmed by all the love and support he received throughout his concert. He even said:

I’m wearing an in ear right now and your cheers are piercing in my ears. I appreciate your unchanging love for me, the best that I can do here is come here once a year.

In between sets of songs, he repeatedly thanked his fans for supporting him from the beginning of his career as a boy band member to acting in Playful Kiss and Boys Over Flowers, which is the Korean drama that is well-known to Filipino fans today up to his career as a solo artist, which made everyone at the MetroTent gave him a round of applause.

What we loved about his concert is his interaction with the fans as he always goes down from the stage and walks to them from the center aisle to the left and right sides of the VIP and PATRON areas. He even said Filipino words such as “Pogi ako“, and “Maganda kayo“, and repeatedly said “Mahal ko kayo”.

Before he sings the song “My Sun”, Filipino Henecias brought up the banners saying: “You are shining brightly like the SUN”, which Kim Hyun Joong loved and said “Mahal ko kayo! (I love you all).

As he performs “New Way” he wears a jacket given by a fan, and it is not an ordinary jacket, it has the design of the Philippine flag.

Kim Hyun Joong expressed his gratitude to his Filipino Henecias by saying:

Just standing on the stage, I’m singing here because of you. Good thing, I did music. If you keep on cheering for me I’ll do my best to stay. Mahal ko kayo!

As much as everyone wanted him to stay longer, he ended the night with a smile on his face by performing “Expecto Patronum” one more time as part of his encore performance and said: “Mahal ko kayo and I promise that I will be back!”.

It is indeed a nostalgic moment for every Filipino who watched him as Yoon Ji-hoo in Boys over Flowers and Baek Seung Jo in Playful Kiss. Even supporting him back then as a member of SS501 and now, with his solo career in singing. It was a heartwarming moment for Kim Hyun Joong and Filipino Henecias to cherish and remember. -HallyuLife.com
